properly, the nationwide Inquirer says that Tom Cruise and Kate Holmes are martians for Jupiter. Your argument isn't undesirable. the only mission is your source, a rfile that has been retranslated again and again for round a million,800 years or so. probability is, we will not in any respect recognize the precise which skill because the context of the orginal texts were altered previous attractiveness. For all all of us recognize, the bible became no longer some thing better than the equivalent of a Harlequinn Love Novel bought in drug shops in the technique the XXX-rated porn shops of Roman cases. God is a metaphor for the Universe. it truly is all i will furnish you with. in case you opt for to call the universe God, then, even I, an atheist accept as true with you and hence, there is not any longer even an difficulty firstly except what call to call it.

You must think of this in terms of Biblical omnipotence, not man's interpretation of omnipotence. Your silly question of "having sex with a girl" is a sin in God's eyes. The Bible says that God cannot commit sin. God cannot lie. God cannot do anything that is contrary to His holy character. However, God can do anything that He determines to do. An all-powerful being cannot fail. The ability to fail is not a part of omnipotence. This is a true meaning of omnipotence -the ability to do anything that one sets out to do.

Arguments like these are clearly illogical and even silly, although they are commonly used by inexperienced non-believers.

:) There is a very famous challenge by atheist, that's similar to your question...
Can God create a stone that he cannot lift ?

If we say "yes he can" then it means that God's Strength cannot lift some thing.. And if we say "he cannot" it means God's Creative power cannot create something..

The Answer as given by Great Sages, who are followers of Vedic scriptures is that, In Spiritual world there is always competition between Different energies of the lord...
So at one moment he can create a Stone that he cannot lift and then in the very next moment the Strength would increase and he can lift it up also...
It all depends on the desire of God as he acts not on our challenge, but by his own sweet will..

God doesn't seem to have any control over anything. Until I get some empirical evidence that there is a sentint Being out there guiding our lives or whatever, I'm going to be quite happy with my concept of God as a God of nature only.

Sorry, but this god can't even get rid of his devil!

The one thing that was impossible for God to do--sin--he opened himself up to, on purpose. The only way that God could open up the possibility to sin was to become man. He became man and did not sin. Theoretically, he could have, since he was tempted by the devil.

So, no, there is nothing that God cannot do.

There is plenty that we cannot do with him--like fit him tidily into our pocket.

*yawn* This tired arguement?

There is a difference between doing all things that are logical, and doing the logically impossible.

A common atheistic arguement along the lines of your question : "Can God make a squared circle?"
Both man and God define a square as an object bearing four equidistant lines, all connecting at points at right angles. Both man and God define a circle as a perfectly round flat object in which all points are of the same radius from the single point within the center. If God were to attempt to make a squared circle, then it is no longer a square or a circle, but rather, something paradoxically different, and is confusing the boundaries of both. Since God is not the author of confusion, such a concept is not His. (Any fellow Christians care to speak up as to whom the author of confusion is? ^_~)

Another common arguement : "Can God create a rock so big He cannot lift it?". A rock, by definition, is a piece of solidified ground of a limited size. Once it goes beyond this point, it is no longer a rock, but rather, a stone. Even stones, and all other subsequent sizes of chunks of earth are of limited size. To redefine such things to allow for unlimited size contorts our language, so much so, that I might say "I will go grain-of-sand climbing next week"... and such a sentence is illogical if I mean to say that I'm going to go mountain climbing. Furthermore, you are attempting to compare one aspect of God with another aspect of God, which is an illogical comparison. It is akin to trying to compare your ability to chew gum with your ability to walk... because you are perfectly capable of doing both individually, does not mean that you are unable to do either if the task at hand to do both at the same time cancels each other out. It is illogical to make such a comparison.

Personal example : Can you rotate your right hand clockwise? Can you rotate your right foot counterclockwise (anticlockwise)? Now, since you say you can do both, let me see you do both at the same time. The problem is not with you, in the fact that you cannot do this, but rather, I am asking you to do something that, by reason of paradox, you are completely incapable of doing.

The problem with this lies not in the ability of the person in question, but rather, the question itself. It is akin to asking, "To whom is the bachelor married?". The question demands an answer, but is worded in a way that it cannot be properly answered.

Legitimate things God cannot do :
God cannot stop being God.
God cannot lie.
God cannot sin.
God cannot work outside the concepts of His love, His laws, and His logic.

Why? Because nothing can change its natural state of being. I might put on a costume, but does that make me a teddy bear? No. I might dye my hair, but does that mean I'm really a red-head? No. I might get a sex change, but does that mean I'm really a guy? No.

Logic is but one aspect of God. Since all things were created by Him, and although He is above all created things, He works within those things. Since God created the concept of "definition", then when something recognized is defined, mere wordplay cannot change its natural existance.

And as such, that is what all "impossible" things are... mere wordplay.

It is common Abrahamic belief that God can do everything. But, Homer Simpson's question is still up for grabs - can God microwave a burrito so hot that He Himself could not eat it?

God can't lie. It seems like a self-imposed limit to his omnipotence.
