Sliced bread was the best thing before sliced bread...

The first manufactured sliced bread was during the Industrial Revolution in 1760.

It lost its popularity during the 1800s until it was then rediscovered in the 1920s in America. At which point it became mass produced.

Hmm pre 1760?

I'm gonna have to go with the alphabet... All the books, creativity and knowledge we have been able to share because of 26 letters (more or less depending on the language)... I think that's pretty amazing...

Although...A crusty, warm, freshly baked loaf delivered to the door by a real baker who had been up since dawn to make it. They knew you by name and would stay for a chat and ask how the family was. The type of bread you don't slice but tear into and see the steam escape from the soft fluff inside. Why did we ever invent sliced bread in the first place?

The best thing before sliced bread was to wait until you were hungry enough to eat a whole loaf in one sitting.
