something that tells me what a child should be doing at a certain age? I think my niece is very smart for 19 months, but I would like to see what a child her age "should" know or be doing.

THANKS!

Go to your local library and look at any Milestone books (such as "What to expect the toddler years". There's also websites like Pampers or Huggies or Babyzone that can tell you what to expect these months.

Ask a pediatrician. They hand out things like that all the time. There is no set guideline, each child is different, and they will do things a different age, but there is some things that should be done within a few months of that age.. Just ask a docs office, Im sure they would be glad to print it out for you, mine did

Parenting magazine has a lot of age specific milestones. Also lists many age specific toys, games and activities. My youngest son is 3 and quite advanced. Every child advances at there own pace. Remember that although gifted children enjoy being challenged that they are still children who need to play and have fun. Good luck and God Bless!

There is a book called What To Expect the Toddler Years that outlines what children "should" be doing at what age. Also keep in mind that (especially at that age) kids progress at VERY different rates. It is perfectly normal for kids to do things at different ages than other children. Also females tend to be more verbal and social than males at that age. So boys sometime have better motor skills and girls have better verbal and social skills.
