I'm trying to send a package there, but it's not an APO or FPO address. Does anyone know if that's in Baghdad or what city it's in?

It's not an APO, FPO. It's not a soldier. It's a contract worker near a base, I believe.

Ma'am,
If it is going to Liberty, then it is an APO, and specifically - it is APO AE. I am an Adjutant General Corps Officer - we run the Army Postal System. I am North of Baghdad, Camp Taji - about 30 minutes from Camp Liberty, which is in Baghdad.

If you are mailing a package and you don't know the APO - this address will get it really close and they can at least re-direct it if necessary:

First Line: Rank, Name of Soldier
Second Line: Soldier's Unit
Third Line: Camp Liberty, Iraq
Fourth Line: APO AE 09390

Have your Soldier send you the exact APO - but as I said, this address should get it there.

In regards to the response of the lady below mine - she is incorrect. I don't know how long ago her husband's last deployment was - however - I can tell you I have been in Iraq for more than 9 months - and every piece of mail I have recieved (I work with the US Army Postal Company) has the word Iraq. The choice is yours - Sorry lady below - but your info is outdated.

Additional Info: The contractors also use the Army Postal System. They will have a slot there as well. Instead you address should read:

First Line: Name of Contractor
Second Line: C/O Name of Contract Company
Third Line: Camp Liberty, Iraq
Fourth Line: APO AE 09390

Now this is assuming his company has bothered to set up an address; but I believe they will have. You could alleviate this problem by asking him/her what the address is when they call you - if that is an option, it is your safest bet to ensure it is delivered.

Best of luck to you.

To answer your question directly, yes, Camp Liberty is in Baghdad. It's one of the larger US bases in the city, actually, and it is located directly adjacent to BIAP, or Baghdad International Airport, to the west of the city and directly south of the neighborhood of Abu Ghraib (no, it's not just the infamous prison that uses that name). When I was there, Liberty was Camp Victory North... but that's irrelevant. The two posts before mine were correct; and odds are if your contractor friend works on Liberty, he likely lives on Liberty, too. Baghdad's just too dangerous for any American to dare living out on the economy somewhere. If he doesn't live physically on Liberty, that means he lives on another FOB (forward operating base) elsewhere in Baghdad, such as Falcon, Speicher, Seitz, or even the Green Zone. If you're not sure he lives physically on Camp Liberty, then ask him where he DOES live, because the APO AE will be different for different FOBS. Otherwise the first gentleman's answer as to address is was correct, minus the "Iraq" bit. The only other possibility is that contractors working/living on FOBS might have some slightly different deal worked out with the MPS (military postal system) there as far as how mail would be addressed to them... and for that, only your friend or another contractor on Liberty would know how to answer that. I hope this has been of some help to you...

Just a note to the above, it's not recommended that you write "Iraq" anywhere on the mail you're sending. Stupid as it sounds, doing this puts it at risk for it to end up in the international postal system and IF it ever gets there, he would have to go to a unsecured Iraqi post office to retrieve it. Stick to his name, unit and APO. When you get his correct zip code, you might also leave off "Camp Liberty" for security reasons.
