there are many tropical fruits in South East Asia. And to my knowledge they're all delicious even though some smell and look funny. It could be the Durian. It has a tough green spiky shell which bears sweet golden coloured fruit inside. But its highly fermented hence giving a very strong stench and also causes gastrointestinal problems such as bloating, increased burping and flatulence, high body temperatures (hyperthermia) etc. Perhaps they weren't adviced for active soldiers.

No one can show you where in the Bible that an Apple was the forbidden fruit.
The Bible says the fruit that Eve gave to Adam was a "forbidden fruit", but it does not specify the variety of fruit
