Try to get to know him first. If you don't think he even knows you are alive, then let him know you are. I don't think the co-worker thing is wierd. I wouldn't go right up and ask him on a date or anything first. I would try to talk to him and see what he is about.

Okay. I used to work with a guy and I liked him from the moment I first saw him. We also did not work in the same department. I was always nervous to talk to him because of similar reasons that you posted. But I finally got sick and tired of wondering. I figured it was worse to never know and always wonder than to try it and maybe get shot down. But luckily I tried it... It's been almost a year now and we're about to move in together!!

I dated a guy I worked with and it turned out to be a disaster! I would not recommend it!! When we broke up...talk about heart ache, I would HAVE to see him everyday and hear his voice because we worked together! Made it that much harder to get over him!! Also, think about arguments (every relationship has them)....you try and keep it out of work, but we would end up fighting with each other in the halls...it was a mess!!!

There's an old saying, "Don't get your honey where you get your money."

What happens if/when it ends? You'll still have to see him every day. What if it ends poorly?
