At first, I thought it was acne, but it doesn't respond to acne treatments. I tried moisterising it, and that didn't work either. The gp said it wasn't a serious skin condition, but she didn't explain to me what it was.

it is probably a condition called keratiosis Polaris. It can be treated with a lotion containing salicylic acid, but it will never go away. Does it become a little milder during the summer and a bit rougher in the winter. I have this condition and you can use the lotion, it helps, but there is no known cure for it. Try looking it up. You can take vitamins with amino acids and stuff like that.

Go back to the GP and ask what is was, if they dont know ask to be referred to a dermatologist who will know what is wrong, you should not have to put up with the rash.
It is your right to ask for referral or to be pointed in the direction of someone who knows.
Failing that Change GP.

I believe it is a sign of a deficiency in a vitamin, but Im not sure which one. The dietician Dr Gillian Mckeith would be able to tell you. Im sure she has a web site.
