Before you start... stretch for at least 5 minutes (don't forget your breathing... which is very important for stretching).

If you choose to stretch before you work out make sure you've sufficiently warmed up your muscles (example - an easy walk). Most will tell you to stretch after a work out but this is usually because your muscles are indeed warmed up. Whenever you choose to stretch just make sure not to bounce when you do so, just hold for a few seconds (til it feels good) and stop. Enjoy!

You will need to stretch twice. Once before you excercise to loosen your muscles and prevent injury (hold each stretch for 10 seconds) And once after doing the same stretches.

Befor and after. Also, try like 5 minutes of walking or jogging before you start to stretch your most important muscle... your heart!

Warm up, much like a car engine, before you start working out, streach, bend before to limit the injuries you might receive.
