Best advice is to hold fire on that until we see the outcome of the so called friendly coup. Thailand may not return to democracy - the military may simply take control of the country.

Yes, that's true. That's prime area for tsunamis. But, your investment is safe from the government at least.

don't buy. Rent is a better solution. Typically you will loose it when your girlfriend kick you out. Remember if you marry her, she is not allowed to own land or house. You can make the house in her name, but can not marry her.

You are allowed to buy houses in Tailand but you do not own the land it stands on. The place is as safe as any asian country.
