Does it make sense that a woman would wear less than a man, though she has more to conceal?
Is this equality?

You caught on to an interesting paradox that is in the west. The industrialized nations of the world have long touted their promotion of equality among genders. They have harped on and on about how women are equal with men professionally, academically, psychologically, intellectually, socially, and in some cases physically. What’s odd about this scenario is that with all this rhetoric concerning equality coming from the west, our fashion and media do more to debase women than ever before.

A woman’s skin is flaunted more now and she is treated more like an object now than in times when women did not have the right to vote, or get equal pay for equal work. The term “B – I – T – C –H” was hardly ever heard in the 1950’s. Now, with our so called equality, the term “B – I – T – C –H “ is as common a pronoun as “her” is in our music and movies.

I have said it once, and I will say it again, nothing has degraded the status of women more than the feminist movement. Most don’t have a problem with a woman getting equal access to education and jobs. Most don’t have a problem with a woman getting equal pay. This is something they merit as equal human beings. However, the minute that society, compelled by feminists, started to associate equality with sameness, we simultaneously removed the distinctive features from women that set them apart from the puerility and lewdness commonly associated with men. With women being deprived of their uniqueness, what is left but to treat them like pieces of meat?

You know what is sad about this entire ordeal. Men, the individuals who women have attributed their subjugation to, are not the ones that are primarily behind the degradation of women. If the truth is told, it is women who have defaced the image of womanhood. It is women who have more to do with their fall from grace. If one keeps prostituting oneself, don’t be offended if you are treated like a prostitute. Simple.

When women again extol motherhood as the highest calling; when women cover themselves up and insist on being valued for their minds; when women acknowledge that they don’t have to emulate men to be equal to men, that is when women will be accorded the respect they once had.

Just because women in the "West" don't live as if they are dark age slavs doesn't mean they are brainwashed. I feel your women are brainwashed, since YOU went there. Hell yes it's equality because NO man tells us what to wear and how to wear it and when. I wear what the hell I want. If I want to come out my home in bunny slippers, a halter top and sweats, I can do that. If I want to wear a nice dress and show off my curves, I can. If I want to bundle up and be modest, I can. So can a man. That is equality. Not brainwashing. Take that mess back to the cave and leave us poor heathen Kaffirs in peace. I'm perfectly happy thank you. I hope a woman slaps the living piss water out of your sexist, stupid self. You all make me sick with this crap.

Customs are different. What men may think when I wear something a little less concealing is really not why I wear it. Well, maybe a little. LOL. If you think that it is wrong for you to appreciate the body of a woman that you do not know, than look away. Your thoughts are under your control.

Though I take offense to "brainwashed", I do appreciate your question. It has nothing to do with religion, regardless of what people may have said. And "Minister" FYI, the world does not revolve around pissing Christians off. Get over yourself.

It has to do with culture. In our society, you pretty much can wear whatever you want. Some women cover everything, some only wear skirts, some women wear practically nothing, and all places in between. Some people are simple minded enough that they think if they see something on TV they should try to be just like them. No accounting for people's tastes. Men aren't immune from this effect: if you think its hot for your pants to hang around your knees, you're an idiot too.

But the thing is, not everyone over-sexualizes things either. There is nothing shameful about my elbows or my knees, and if I wear a t-shirt or a tank top, I am not trying to seduce people, I'm trying to be comfortable. You can't give me that load of crap that women in the East are covering up to not be seen as seductive or to protect themselves. They still get raped and beaten. It's up to men to control their penises, not women. Then we can talk about "equality".

She may have more to conceal in your eyes, but to her it is a personal choice, what you think doesn't matter a whit. That choice does equate into equality. Why should some man tell us what to wear? The idea is ludicrous. We aren't controlled by men in this country, unless we want to be (!) and that is never going to change. The idea of some man, for any reason, telling me what to wear makes me grin from ear to ear - now THAT'S funny. Of course it helps that in this country we are completely free citizens who don't have to ask men for permission to do anything. Men aren't allowed to do anything they please to us either, they are expected to exercise self-control - and if they don't they can end up spending time in prison. I am very thankful I am an American woman who has always been encouraged to use my own brain and make my own choices. I can't imagine living any other way.

I think women should be allowed to wear as much clothing as men are allowed to wear or as less clothing. It is so stupid that we always operate on double standards. As long as we do there will never be a true equality between men and women. Obviously there are some aspects of our physicality that requires some to be in place, but most of the crap we all live by is oppresive to women.

Because it is the social norm. Look at some isolated tribes where the people - men and women - wear hardly any clothes at all. I think it became the social norm because women feel they have to sell their sexuality in order to negotiate on equal level with men. Problem is they'd accomplish more if they had respect instead of lust.

The west believes in equality to a certain extent. However, to catch the male eye, some women feel they must compete, just as men would for the female eye.

In order to compete, we all show others what we want then to see in order to win.

It is equality in terms of capitalism. It is not equality when speaking in terms of comparing assets.

I honestly believe that it is not a question of what she is wearing. It is the need for the man to not covet another mans wife or lust for that which we do not have. So, a woman may wear whatever she likes, it is up to we-men to keep them holy.

Women want love, men want sex. Many are confused and believe the two to be one and the same. Women degrade themselves to attract men, who in turn take advantage of their need for love. It is a vicious cycle. Women need to set higher expectations for men. If men had to work for the love of a woman, they would have to step up and truly become men. Instead, women settle for boys. It's very sad. Women are being destroyed in this culture.

I don't think the amount of clothing a woman wears really amounts to anything much. Heh heh...

Um anyway, really in the west our issues are obviously out of whack. Do you people remember the Janet Jackson nipple incident or the lunatic mommies that freaked about a baby being pictured breastfeeding on a PARENTING MAGAZINE? So we can't have nudity or sex on television, or see a naked breast - BUT we can have people shot to death, beaten to death, depictions of rotting corpses, etc. Actual images of killed war casualties. All I'm saying violence is worse than sex, so if you want to ban something - ban the violence.

And of all the west, the USA is indeed the most uptight. In other countries they have nude beaches and nudity on TV and no one blinks an eye. For example in my husband's country of Sweden american movies have much violence edited out and its kept to a minimum on TV, but nudity - no one cares. And really, why should they?
