We had a cocker spaniel when I was a kid that never quit piddling whenever he was excited! We ended up changing his name to Squirt!

This is a submissive, dominance thing. You puppy (just like mine) is showing that he/she is submissive. There really is no way to stop it. Just to help it. Do not have people or yourself get in front of the dog to pet him/her do this from the side. Do not "say hi" your dog until he/she goes poddy first. Then praise and "say hi" to your dog. You have to try to build confidence into your dog. Smaller dogs are known to do this to bigger animals so the bigger animal will not hurt them.
I know this sounds silly but, it starts to work after a while. I have done lots of research on this because it is annoying and embarrassing, also.

Most of the time, but you can help. Don't get the puppy excited when you ,or anyone comes in. Just ignore it until it settles down. Most people want to pet it right away and this gets it very excited.

your dog is showing signs of submissivness. they usually do grow out of this. what you can start doing now is pretty simple. when ppl come over put a leash on your dog, have some treats. let him fully calm down before you let anyone pet him..and dont have them get him all excited. just have him sit..they pet him a few times, reward him and go about business as normal

It should stop on its own at about 5 - 6 months. u can try this in the mean time; instead of having them come to her have her or him go to them. have him on a leash so he or she wont get to close and have him like that for a couple of minutes them slowly have your dog get closer and closer, have that person just completely ignore your dog for the first few times. try this for about a week.this should get rid of the problem.

This is submissive behavior, and he won't just grow out of it.
Take your dog to obedience classes NOW, it will help the puppy develop confidence and stop doing this.
