These people that call themselves Americans..... their forefathers came and killed and stole what these people of today are claiming solely as their own....... Shame on them for forgetting history.You say that we came as legal ones.....if you want to consider the atrocities committed to the North American Indians as our coming here legal do so......The Indian did not have the concept of owning land.......The saw land as on loan by mother nature. Mother nature owned the land they did not. So when the White Man came requesting to buy land the Indian so much wanted to share all of the bounty of the land with the white man......The white man tricked the Indians into entering into written contracts of land purchase.......lands of hundreds of acres purchased with little in exchange.....was not money.......Beaver pelts, deer antlers....beads...etc were the purchasing items. The Indians not understanding the concept of a man owning land......assumed that they were giving the white man the same rights as they had to hunt fish and camp .... The white man saw the Indian as stupid and dumb and fraudulently acquired his lands..... so don't say we came here as legal.... we came as thieves. Of course the illegal comes today to only work.... not steal these lands which you have stolen.... and he works for what he earns here.

As I feel a little disappointed with the answers to this question, I'll try my own!
First, it's true that comparison might be unfair - the fact that someone did worse does not justifiy what someone else does.
Second, however, illegal immigrants are not necessarily 'bad' people. Many are just trying to survive, and they don't see how they can manage it legally. Information on how to immigrate legally is not always there for everyone. Also, there are quotas, etc. So in some cases, you can't blame them for trying.
Many people were self righteous about Jews trying to get into the country illegally in the 1930's. So shiploads of Jews trying to escape Nazi Germany found themselves at the bottom of the sea. Today, there are many people feeling desperate in the world.
Those who are safely inside tend to strongly condemn others who are trying to get in. I don't like that.
(By the way I'm neither an immigrant nor a would-be immigrant). Countries such as Spain occasionally give blanket amnesties to those illegals already the country, on condition that they register within a certain amount of time. This at least puts a bit of order in the system.
As I have suggested before, could it be that certain elements in the country want people to continue being illegal, so that they can profit from their cheap labour?
I am aware that there needs to be some control over immigration. I just don't like the smug self-righteousness that often seems to go with it.

As for illegal immigrants, the companies that draw them here like a light to the moth are much like the invading murderers you mention. The poor citizens stuck with illegals in their schools, clogging up their hospitals, and using up excessive amounts of social services so that about a third of them can work for depressed wages in bad conditions (another third are dependants, and a third are real criminals) have no redress and are a lot like the Indians you recall.

So take your nonsense elsewhere, as it is certainly out of place here! Misplaced guilt trips not desired!

Well, the Mexica people that became the Aztecs were illegals. They invaded and made the people of the other tribes slaves, then used them to burn hearts on bloody altars. When Moctezuma ascended to the throne of the Aztec Empire they killed over 35,000 people just so their stupid gods would be happy.
