How do you expect him to get outta bed if he is in his crib? That is a accident waiting to happen. Which is more important, him falling or wee-weeing on carpeting that could be cleaned?
Put him in his big boy bed and make an big deal about how important it is he go in the potty and not on the floor. I would highly recommend Pull ups at night.

Adjusting to life without the crib should be easier than life without diapers. It could take a long time with trials and errors to complete the potty training process. So, once your son gets accustomed to sleeping through the night (our daughter hopped out of bed and woke us up 3 nights the first week) in his big boy bed then you can move on to the next milestone. We kept our daughter in pull-ups at night until she kept them dry for 3 nights in a row. She may wake us up from time to time now to ask for my help going on the potty (can't wipe well or pull her pants back up all the way yet) but it's much nicer than when we dealt with diapers or pull-ups.

I put my 2.5 yr old in a "BIG BOY BED" after he started climbing out of his crib...safer than having him fall or have the crib come down on him...Potty training is something that I would do after he's sleeping in a big boy bed...and YOU can't stop them from peeing on the floor if they don't know better..

i have two sons. and potty training may take a big while to tackle, so i would definately put the kid in a toddler bed while waiting for the potty training to be finished....
pull-ups are great! id say you should have him wear those to bed....

No reason why he can't be in a toddler bed.
My little guy potty trained in 2 weeks. Good thing too because pull ups are expensive!

I would try to start potty training at first.
Then a rubber sheet and a nappy at night. Children are dry in the day first and then dry at night sometimes up to a year later.

I say keep him in his crib as long as you can, my daugher was potty trained at 3 but slept in her crib till she was 4. If he has to go he will yell for you, also the first several months he will be in pull ups anyway. Good luck

He can still wear diapers or training pants at night while you're potty training him; and in fact, he probably should -- most kids won't be able to hold it all night.
