Yikes, the only potentially harmful effects that I know of are gas and gaining weight, and maybe too much sodium/sugar intake.

I quit drinking all soda about six years ago, mostly to lose weight. I don't miss it at all - really! I never feel bloated anymore. I don't experience gas or heartburn anymore. Once or twice when I have tried a Coke (because I used to drink four or five cans a day) it tasted horrible and burned my throat going down - enough that one sip is all I needed to remember why I quit it.

Soda isnt the very healthy to begin with. All the sugar and caffeine is really bad for your body.

I can offer you my own experience, about two years ago I quit drinking soda. I used to drink about 10 cans a day (give or take). Five weeks after I quit, not only did I feel SO MUCH better, but I also dropped 15 pounds.

Almost all soft drinks now have high fructose corn syrup as the sweetner instead of cane or beet sugar, which naturally occur. High fructose corn syrup is artificially created, and is now the food industry's major sugar source. Since its use, obesity in America has skyrocketed, as has the onset of diabetes. Soft drinks also contain citric acid and caffeine, both which can cause health problems. Water is always best.

Hmm, well, I've heard that the carbonation can eat the enamel of your teeth, if you drink enough of it.

Also, if you're drinking that much of it, you're putting away lots of sugar, and caffein, which - in large amounts like that, are harmful to you - you'll gain weight, your sugar levels will be terrible, you could have heart problems becuase of the amount of caffein intake, etc.

But, that's not just with Pepsi - it's with Coke, Mountain Dew - any regular soda (not diet/not sugar free).

I personally know that if you drink too much of any carbonated soft drink, you can weaken the enamel on your teeth to the point where they actually break off, and/or rot out. It happened to my son, who now has no front teeth on top, and is only 26 years old. He's since stopped drinking carbonated colas and only drinks Propel water. <*)))><

Weight gain and cavities are the worst effects. If consumed in large quantities, sodas can also cause kidney stones which are extremely painful.

Just cutting soda out of your diet can cause you to lose 10 or more pounds over a year.

carbonated drinks contain phosphorus. Too much phosphorus leaches the bones of calcium. Also, there is a ton of sugar in them. Drinking too many cokes can lead to ulcers and other GI tract problems
