Is there any medical cure for Epiglottis pain (Disease)?

I consulted a medical doctor and he said "... except through a minor surgery" I don't want to take the surgery.

Epiglottis pain? I'm not familiar with such a disease. There's Acute epiglottitis, laryngomalacia, etc. What are your other symptoms like?
