how can you tell when they have their first heat cycle

I recently read answers of some cases of pregnancy at about five, or even four, months of age.

As already pointed out, it's not very good for them to become pregnant that young (just as it isn't good for 12-year-old girls to become pregnant, even though it's possible, for many - let alone the 9 year old I read about...). It's also best to have the cat spayed before her first heat cycle, saving her the hormone blast can add, according to some sources, several years to her life.

Kittens can have a first heat cycle as young as five months so it is best to spay at that time. Waiting till six months or later opens you to the possibility of having a pregnant kitten!

Cats can become pregnant as early as 6-9 months of age. It is VERY easy to tell when a female cat is in season.
1. they yowl and howl all day and all night, calling for a mate. It can get quite loud (especially oriental breeds) and quite grating on the nerves.
2. they adopt a sort of hunkered down in front posture with an abnormally pronounced lower spine curvature (lordosis) while sticking their butts in the air.
3. they become the friendliest things you have ever known and will not leave you alone at all ever until they have mated

We once had a kitten get pregnant at 5 months - before we had her spayed. She was so tiny to be a mom --- but did a great job.
