There is a verse in the Quran [8:32] about people who did not believe prophet Muhammed challenged him to ask his god (Allah) to punish them right away with stones from the sky or any other punishment that Allah might prefer. The answer from prophet Muhammed [8:33] was that Allah would not punish them because prophet Muhammed was among them and also because they were asking forgivness from god!

That answer surprises me very much and I therefore have many questions regarding that answer:

(1) Why did not god (Allah) want to punish them although he had already punished other people while their prophets were among them (the same situation) such as Noah.

(2) What does it mean when god (Allah) says [8:33] that he would not punish them because they were asking for his forgivness? They had never asked for his forgivness, on the contrary they were CHALLENGING him.

He did; he was ruthless to ANY and ALL that disagreed with him; including his wives that were angry because he married a nine year old and consummated the marriage.

Well, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, I guess you MISQUOTED by MISTAKE, but heres the actual verses, from Yusuf Ali translation,

32. Remember how they said: "O Allah if this is indeed the Truth from Thee, rain down on us a shower of stones form the sky, or send us a grievous penalty."

33. But Allah was not going to send them a penalty whilst thou wast amongst them; nor was He going to send it whilst they could ask for pardon.

So Allah answers your question right there. Muhammad (pbuh) was amongst them and also, He would not punish them while they "COULD ask for pardon" -- meaning they had the potential too. Obviously God must have known there were some righteous amongst them that could ask for mercy, which is why he spared them.

Each people is different and God has wisdom over all things. Who is to know what people is worse or better, but God?

And Allah knows best.

Quran 8.33: But Allah was not going to send them a penalty whilst thou wast amongst them; nor was He going to send it whilst they could ask for pardon. (Yusuf Ali Translation).

As you can see from the text it says whilst they could ask for pardon, meaning they could still repent. Sometimes the translations differ, it is better to read the Quran in arabic if you know the language.

Also please note that Allah stopped punishing people for their wrongdoings in the time of Moses. Because Moses was the one who waged Jihad and punished the enemies with his followers. Since then all the followers of God were the one who punished the wrongdoers.

1. No one can answer that because no one knows but God Himself.

2. Again, no one knows but God Himself, however it is possible that while they were challenging Him with their tongue, their hearts were saying otherwise. God, being the All-Knowing that He is, knew this while no one else save the individual knew (even if he didn't want to admit it).

Why did not prophet Muhammed answer people who challanged him?
Quite often Mo did not have his first ELDERLY wife, the catholic, by his side-- so he did not know what to say next!

They would be lies anyway!

"Not Jesus, but a look alike, was substituted and crucified at the Cross." -4:157
THIS IS BLASPHEMY - AND A LIE! No proof can be offered at all.
