Let the meat cook for hours in a nice tomatoe sauce with a celery stalk added for flavor. Cook the meat until it just about falls apart when forked and then serve it with linguine,a nice Italian bread and a good bottle of wine.

If you have a crock pot or even just a nice big pot to cook on low...here is a simple recipe.
Use a package of lipton onion soup mix or even the bargain brand. Place roast in the pot and add mix. Cover with water. Slow cook all day until the meat is nice and tender and well done. This makes a wonderful meat broth. You can either add vegetables like carrots and potatoes, stewed tomatoes...whatever you like and shred the meat into it for a super hardy soup ( I add egg noodle or rice even). or you can take it out whole and slice it up. Use the stock for making Gravy by simply boiling and adding about two tablespoons of flour. Salt and pepper to taste. Serve with something like green beans, broccolli or whatever you like and some mashed potatoes. A very hearty meal!
Enjoy and good luck!

Easy, slow roast it for an hour or 2 then throw in carrots, onions and potatoes cut in kind of big peaces. Make sure the roast is under juice broth or water after half an hour or so. Start with high temp for about 15 minutes then slow the temp down. Slow roasing isn't a science because the meat is cooked way past done. That's why I didn't put temps in here.

Chuck roast is usually a tough cut of meat and you'll need to slow-cook it for about 12 hours in a crock pot. Try this:

Put 3 cans of condensed cream of mushroom soup into a crock pot, and add some water to it. Cut 4 onions into quarters and toss them in. Chop up about 10 carrots, toss them in as well. Throw in every seasoning you can find in your cabinet that you think won't make it taste awful (try garlic, salt, pepper, french onion soup mix, etc.). Also, cut up about 5 small potatoes into quarters, and add to the pot. Last, drop your chuck roast into the crock pot, then clean up the mess that occurred when the contents overflowed all over your counter because it was too full before the roast was dropped in. You could put the roast in first, of course, but that would take away the "adventure" element from the whole exercise.

Set the crock pot on "low" and let it cook for about 12 hours. Eating a chuck roast that's been cooked less than 12 hours is akin to chewing on a wallet.

Buy some beef seasoning, some potatoes, some carrots, and follow the roasting instructions on the seasoning package (it usually comes with a clear, plastic baggie).

Take the plastic baggie it came with and put the roast and the veggies and the seasoning in there...again, just follow the instructions on the back of the seasoning package...and bake the roast. It should take an hour or so; no longer than 90 min.

It's easy and tasty, too. However, if you're watching your sodium intake, I would not recommend it.

The best thing to do with an inexpensive cut of meat is the crock pot. Put roast in, add vegetables of your choice and cover with beef stock or gravy. simmer for 5+ hours. I do this all the time because I work and when we all come home, supper is ready and the house smells great!

Do you like Mexican style food? How about making a Machaca style of meat that you can put into a soft tortilla?

Take the roast and cut it into cubes. Brown them ina pan with olive oil, searing the outside but don't cook them all the way through. Take the beef out of the pan and set aside in a bowl.

Saute onions, garlic, green chilis, green peppers in olive oil.

Transfer the mixture to a stock pot and add the beef back in. Add beef broth to cover it and seasonings to tase- like salt, pepper, cumin, oregano, a littel chili powder, lime juice (it helps break down the met into soft shreds), diced tomatoes.

Simmer this for about 2 hours or until the meat falls apart into soft shreds. The sauce should stay moist, so you might want to have a little extra beef broth in case it starts to get dry.

When it's done, take the soft and richly flavored beef and put it into a soft tortilla to eat. Machaca Chimichanga's! Yum

You can also make a BBQ beef sandwich using this type of cooking method (boiling the beef cubes in broth, onions and garlic until they fall apart.). I like to add red wine to the BBQ style to help break down the meat, and then I add a cup of BBQ sauce to the pot in the last fifteen minutes. Instant pulled beef sandwich meat. Great served on a hamburger bun. Try this with a cheap cut of prok roast for pulled pork sandwiches! Serve with potato chips and cole slaw and pretend you're at a Georgia roadside diner.

take your roast and put it in a slow cooker(crock pot) and add 1 can of campbells cream of mushroom soup and 1 envelope of liptons golden onion and mushroom soup mix(dry mix) add about 1/3 cup of water and let it cook on low for 6-7 hours. This will make the most tender roast and the best gravy ever. Serve with rice or mashed potatoes .....for extra added flavor dice up a small green bell pepper and add it to the crock pot

Get 1 can cream of mushroom soup, and 1 packet onion soup & dip mix. Spread the onion mix & the undiluted soup over the roast, cover with foil & bake at 325 for about 1- 1 1/2 hours, serve with rice,potatoes,veges.. it's delicious. Do not use any other seasoning. Later if you find it too salty, use less of the onion soup mix.
