I didn't get very big either. I carried my boys long, they occupied all the spare space in my abdomen, from my sternum to my pubic bone. I didn't really look anything other than chubby until I was nearly 8 months. Both were healthy and average weight. Don't give too much stock to peoples opinions about your bump, most are all over the map and what happens to others means NOTHING to you. Pregnancy is very individual. I definately prefer looking pregnant instead of strangely chubby.

To be honest, this a question your midwife needs to answer. We can all give you our opinions, but unless we have your medical charts we are just guessing. And to give our opinions would probably just scare you, but you asked, so here goes.
More than likely you are carrying further back. If they really believe you are too small, they will do an ultrasound.
Some babies fail to thrive in the womb and they wont grow. Then they would have to take baby before it dies.
Your best bet to a big healthy baby is to eat the healthiest foods possible. Don't smoke, drink or do drugs that makes a small baby. Take your vitamins everyday. If they make you sick ask your doctor about Flintstone vitamins, that is what I took, and all my kids were 7.5lbs-8.0lbs.

My first 2 sons, i hardly showed at all. One came out 6 15ozs, the other 7lbs 15ozs.
I remember at my eye doctor visit, the lady was sorry but she had to ask me this question cause my eye tests kept changing. She asked if i was pregnant, i said, yes I'm 8 1/2 mos along. She shrieked a lil. I definitely shocked her because you could hardly tell. My friends said the same thing.
People are saying it now, I'm 6 mos 2 days along with 3rd child and I'm still not that big. All depends on the woman and child.
That's why its an average, some are smaller, some bigger, some in between. I wouldn't worry about it.

If your midwife is not concerned, you shouldn't be either. 29 weeks is still early and womens "bumps" come in all shapes and sizes. Its not the size of the bump but the height of your fundus(top of uterus to pubic bone)that matters. As long as you are eating well, exercising and taking care of yourself, I'm sure your baby is growing the way it is meant too.
