Law Enforcement is a very broad field. Local law enforcement is not funded well enough to fight terrorism, and the federal agents that are charged with this responsibility are doing better than one might think.

For the most part, they are observing terrorists subjects to see who they are communicating with, and establishing the extent of the networks within the boundaries of the United States.

They process all the information they receive, and will act appropriately on this information at the appropriate time.

It would be far to easy for people to report people they do not like, and hope they would be arrested, but police need more evidence before they will make an arrest.

Law enforcement isn't even involved in finding and apprehending 'terrorists.' Nothing is being done, which seems to support the concept that all of this is a sham set up for some other purpose.

Look at some of the Loose Change videos and other documentaries and note that only informal sources are analyzing the terrible predicament that we are in.

Neo-cons (not specifically Republicans) have done a very thorough job of manipulating the absolute LOYALTY of our armed forces and law enforcement. That loyalty is to a POLITICAL ENTITY, and not the civilian population of our country. Through media, they have disenfranchised our police from civilians, making them feel unappreciated by us.

Couple that with Patriot Act and recent torture legislation's very vague redefinitions of "terrorist" and "enemy combatant" to EASILY include American citizens who criticize the administration, which would then put them outside of of legal system.

ALL of the legislation directly affects American citizens, and only some of it effects terrorists, but only in their vagueness. The so-called "War on Terror" is obviously and specifically aimed at AMERICANS, removing our protections, and empowering the President.

We are now one Presidential finger-snap away from a LEGAL police state in which FEMA would take control of industry, employment, production, finances and credit, media, transportation, the works. (Read about FEMA, the Act that created it, and what it's real duties are.)

ALL AMERICANS have now become "potential" terrorists in our government's view.

Keep in mind we've been led to believe that terrorists threaten our liberty and freedom. A terrorist can bomb a building, but cannot deny you your freedom or liberty...ONLY your own government can do that...and already has.

In the future, will the police protect US, or our government?

The answer seems obvious. The rest is a moot point.
