I have read a lot on diet and especially have read about sugar processing. All refined sugar goes through a whitening process which involves removing the color with animal bones. The only significant difference between white and brown sugar is that white sugar has molasses added back to it to change its color and to give it a different flavor. Otherwise, nutritionally and health wise, they are almost identical.

The only difference between the two is molasses. Light brown sugar has less molasses than dark and white processed sugar has none. Other than that, they are pretty much the same except in the flavor area.

The brown sugar sold at the stores is actually white granulated sugar with added molasses. Yes, brown sugar contains minute amounts of minerals. But unless you eat a gigantic portion of brown sugar everyday - the mineral content difference between brown sugar and white sugar is absolutely insignificant.

No. There is no difference between white sugar and brown sugar when it comes to health. The only difference is when breaking down the sugar canes they sometimes leave in the molasses to create brown sugar and give it that dark color and sweeter taste.

Better in what way? As far as nutritionally, brown has some potassium that white sugar doesn't have
