Hi, don't think the NHS is at fault, more the Government for not ensuring the cash they have invested is correctly used.

Too many pen pushers now and this is where the money is going.

I dont really think it is the NHS as such, the government has made so many changes in such a short time, also society is changing rapidly, and we have to move with it. Unfortunatly, because of litigation, paperwork has to be in place for everything, to cover everything we do. We are also so much in debt, they are laying off nurses like they did in the 80's. Hense the need for foreine nurses, now there are no jobs for all the students in this country. If the government and the NHS listened to nurses they would save millions, but there are too many managers with far too large a wage.
Its all gone peek tong. Because of all these problems yes we are failing to meet the needs of britain. I feel we are working towards privatism. It appearrs that the NHS is being squeezed for everything it has got so that we are in a position for the NHS to fail. I am a nurse of 30 years nursing.

Are the people of Britain expecting too much from the NHS?

I think so.

Need and want are different things.

I think emergency treatment should be excellent and free.
We would have no problem delivering that.

What we are currently trying to do is feed a family gourmet meals on a budget for basic living.
Plastic surgery, infertility treatment and all non-life threatening illness should be outside the remit of the NHS.
People should take out insurance to cover these things.... OR pay more for a health service.

ive had problems for the past year with my stomach and digestive system, im a 23 year old fit healthy person who is in his prime.......it took me 3 quarters of a year to get seen by the hospital who seemed to diagnose me with IBS even before any tests where done, it got to the point the other day, after being unemplyable for a long time, where i became so depressed i changed my doctor and went to see him about medication to just help me cope with normal life. After brnging him up to date with my condition he was furious with the way i was treated, claiming the doctor was out of order treating me in this way, leaving me a year without help. He claimed that he refused me a dietition and more tests because of certain cutbacks in the nhs made by the governmaent and went on a rant for ten minutes about how the government feared the power that doctors had thinking their demands would be so high that it would cost a fortune, therefore there would be cutbacks all over the place and its happening now! And they where my doctors words, not mine! Just imagine if the tories get in???!!?!?

This country has quite simply...failed itself in every respect. We have let too many foreigners in, let them use our facilities and abuse the social system that we wer eonce known for.
I'm not rascist or xenophobic, but I do feel that as a nation we have become a soft touch. We have let far too many people in. As a result the system is now struggling to provide adequate jobs, education and health to sustain everybody. The NHS is just one example of this...a good idea ruined by silly politicians.

Yes. The simplest reason is that they hire too many managers and not enough nurses, doctors, and support staff. They don't enforce their own rules as well as frequently the cleaning contractors they hire don't do their job and leave the place just as dirty as when they arrived.
