Well, what a moral dilemma. Fess up with chance of getting fired or keep silent and worry all the time that you will get caught.!?! Well, if it was truly an accident, most bosses will understand and be glad that you came forward. Either way, you will sleep better if you tell the truth. Just take a deep breath and get it over with.

Apologies are required if you have harmed or hurt anyone, or even your organization. If you have not harmed or hurt anyone, to whom will you apologise? You may think that confessing will make you feel better, but the longer you persist with your feeling of guilt, the worse it will get. As they say, wallowing in mud is not the best way to get clean.
But if you have caused real damage, for which someone else may be blamed, then by all means, confess.

No, I wouldnt confess...and yes, Ive goofed up bad before and didnt apologize. Usually I do tho...but in your case where you didnt get caught, let it go...unless theres a possiblility that it can be tracked to you...then you better fess up.

I would have to fess up to the error. It will only make you look to be a better person. Your supervisor will respect you more for going out on a limb more or less. Besides, someone else may be taking the heat for your mistake and I am sure you wouldnt want that to happen to you..........remember Karma!
Good luck and I am sure you will make the right decision based on your circumstances.

No let it go, just live and learn from your mistakes. We all make mistakes. I have made some serious mistakes at work, I try to fix them and move on. Good luck.

This is a very personal question. Obviously, it bothers you or you would not have asked the question. Objectively, make peace with your conscience and consider the consequences of such a confession. I'd say make a pragmatic decision based upon your situation, and, then, let it go.

It must not have been all that big if you didn't get caught. Just don't do it again. If someone else is being blamed then you should step up and explain what happened.

Yes, you will sleep better at night and your boss, employer will develop trust in you for owning up to the mistake. I would rather one of my employees tell me the really messed up than to hide it and hope I did not find out. It is very important to me to be able to trust them and if I found they hid something like that, I would no longer trust them and would have to terminate them...
