I believe it is because we have become intellectually and morally lazy and do not even bother reading our Christian history--How about you.

In the Christian church most of the concentration has been in the New Testament. This is what preachers have concentrated on. There is a great deal of gold in the pages of the Old Testament, particularly when it comes to end-times prophesy. I personally do not see how anyone can preach the blood and the cross of Jesus Christ without referring to the Old Testament because the Old Testament paved the way for the coming of Christ. The O.T. is a difficult study because of all the character and historical events involved. It is not quite as bad as the study of English history, but almost as complicated as far as being able to keep track of who is on first base and who is on second.

After the death and resurrection of Christ a lot of the Old Testament changed the rules etc... And most of the prophesies of the Old Testament are fulfilled, the New Testament has lots of relevance to the days we live in

I believe hat are fewquestions to the Old Testament because we live under the New Testament now. Jesus said I have not come to change the lawbut to full fill the law. No more eye for ane eye but turn the other cheek.

How can one ask a question about the Old Testament when they do not know the New Testament. Both books are intertwined as ONE BOOK. There is too much Spititual Ignorance today by the public and even in the pulpits of the churches.

because christians ignore the old testament unless they are talking about homosexuality, because they can't quote jesus on the subject!

so a lot of people here are implying or saying outright that the old testament is no longer pertinent to the christian faith. so please tell me where in the new testament do find restrictions against homosexuality? where in the new testament does it justify the violence of war? and where the hell does jesus say that the old testament should be ignored? he says that not one iota should be changed of the old law. that means you can't eat lobster.

by the way, the apostle paul writes that women should be silent and submissive and not speak in church or teach. so i better not hear from any christian women! he also writes that it is a sin to braid your hair and wear earrings.

be consistent!

This is a really good question. I don't think there is as much controversy or disagreement about the things in the old testament. Much of it is known history or prophesy, so I don't think there's as much to argue about.

Because Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament and the old laws are not necessary.

The Muslims drag them up from time to time though.

Peace!

The old DO not pretain to us anymore.... Because we are new testament Christians, not old... We were born on this side of the cross(after Christ died). if we lived back THEN, we would follow the old, but we were not,so we are to follow the new and all of the teachings in the NEW TESTAMENT,,,, AND THAT IS CHRIST TEACHINGS.....

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves;
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshiped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever, Amen.
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet.
And even as they did not like to RETAIN GOD in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
