I already know that products containing ephedra can be very harmful and even cause death. I used in the past before the ban to lose weight/gain energy and I would only use in moderation for a short period of time. I would like honest answers about these "low dosage" ephedra products if they do in fact contain ephedra are they legal?

The ban on ephedra was lifted in Oct. 2005 only to be reimposed again recently.Retailers are still alowed to sell the stock they have on hand,but any new products will not contain ephedra as it's use is illegal once again.Ephedra contains ephedrine 1 therefore has been banned.Any ephedra product that is standardized will tel you how much ephedrine alkaloyds are present per dose.
When the ban was lifted in 2005 the maximum dosage of ephedrine in these products was dropped to 10 mg per dose.It may still be possible to get what's still on the shelves,but beyong that supplement and even drug companies cannot add ephedrine to their products.Even many companies have removed pseudo ephedrine from their ingrdients.Sudafed is just one.Their name is short for pseudo ephedrine.That's how much pressure abounds on these drugs.Reasons are too many abuse related deaths and the production of meth amphetamine.
The Chinese name is in fact Ma Huang.I used to buy it by the pound in Chinatown NYC to make teas along with all of my other herbs.
EDIT!!!!Aleve Cold and Sinus contains pseudoephedrine not ephedrine.Pseudo means fake or false.Pseudoephedrine is a chemical copy cat and is also under scrutiny.Many companies have removed it.It does not have the same effect!!!

Ephedra and ma huang are available here in Texas right now. The reason they monitor and limit the sales of these products, especially the cold/sinus stuff with it in it is people use it to create meth. Most health food stores (I like Ye Olde Herbe and Tea Shoppe in Texarkana and Granary Street) can help you with which of these products is less harmful.

its ephedrine that is illegal, ephedra is not as toxic to the body, and as far as i know, is not illegal yet. BTW, i have a box of cold pills sitting in front of me, Aleve cold and sinus and right on the front of the box it lists ephedrine as a main ingredient. Guess ephedrine really isn't illegal either, but when i bought this product recently, i had to show my drivers license and sign my name, they told me they monitor the amount of these type of pills sold, and you can only buy so many in a months period.

I'm a lady n i'm shy til u get to grasp me. I'll take a seat in class quiet n no longer talk to someone n wen ppl speak to me I get worried...... But when ik u n were buddies i'm much more outgoing .... I just get fearful round more moderen people n I get scared..... i'm a woman n i'm shy til u get to carry close me. i will sit down in school quiet n no longer communicate with all of us n wen ppl communicate with me i'm getting worried...... yet when ik u n were acquaintances i'm so significantly better outgoing .... I only get worried round more recent human beings n i'm getting scared..... adult adult males continually calls me lovable n lovable cuz i'm shy, short, were given an wonderful body, im sweetheart til u piss me off, stuff like that......
