I would say that if someone was to willing take any kind of Mark of the beast (be it a GPS tracking device or otherwise) that this could in fact constitute the mark (if in fact at that time in history this is what is in place).
But - in the technological sense - there is nothing to currently suggest that this is in fact going to be the mark. I too believe that we are living in the end times, but as a believer in Jesus Christ I have faith to know that I will not be here when all of this goes down, and thus - it is not something I am willing to give an ounce of worry towards.

I think you are right, however, there is more to the mark than just accepting a chip. Look at newborns, their parents will be so in the blind, that they will have their children have these chips (for kidnapping purposes, health, etc.), I don't see our Lord condeming the baby because their blind parents wanted them to have a chip. However, I believe the chip has something to do with it.
The antichrist will be able to track all those who accept the chip, and without it, they can't pay for mortgages, food, etc.
the 3 6's also represent:
600 means warfare,
60 means pride,
6 means men.
666 also represents
political system
religious system
economic system
So, it's more than just a chip, or a system, or a person. Remember, the advarsary is subtle and sly, he isn't going to make it so obvious, and remember, even the elect will be able to be fooled.

I'm Atheist, so I don't see it as The Mark. I do see something like this as a possible next step in the Amber Alert System. I can't say I'm altogether for or against something like this. As a parent, if my kids should come up missing I would embrace a technology that would allow me to find them in a short period of time, when their chance of survival is greatest. However, anything can be abused, and I'm sure something like this could become a scary piece of technology. It would depend on the mitigating factors and fail-safes before I would consider it.

Yes, many humans are tracked by GPS. This is generally a good thing. If I want someone to find me, I'd like them to know where I am.
What mark? Are you referring to the Revelations nonsense? Sorry, but I don't buy into millenia old superstitions.

It already is the next mark. You can put chips in your kids clothing to track them.
