Bad Breath is generally a stomach problem NOT a dirty mouth or teeth. What kind of a diet does your 8 year old have. Does she have an acid reflux issues? I have a 13 year old with GERD (Gastro Esphagial Reflux Disease) she takes Prevacid daily to help with this......her breath can be quite brutal...he oral cleansing habits are excellent she takes breath savers to school to avoid any embarassing episodes. Talk to your doctor and discuss this problem he can send you to a halitosis expert who will likely help with this problem. There is bad breath tests that they can do and discuss solutions. It is a problem and one you dont want some meany kid at school to catch on too....if so the embarassment could be so awful school then becomes an issue, something you dont want. Continue with the over the top oral hygiene....as regular as possible and book an appointment with a halitosis expert. The bacteria levels in her stomach might be off....you could try apple cider vinegar once or twice a day...If you can convince her to take it..they might help. Good luck....there will be a solution, I promise!

I know your child is proboly too old to have done this, however, you never know.
My sisters daughter had gotten a small object stuck up her nose and it wasn't found for weeks. She had the most putrid breath imaginable and finally her family doc sent them to a ear/nose/throat specialist who removed the object.
I suggest you ask you GP to get you a referral to a specialist who can have a thourough look into the nasal/throat cavaties. It seems like the issue isn't with dental hygiene as you are being very clean about that.
I also had an axperience once when I fed my kids this onion soup recipe and they had horrible breath for days, and not just horrible onion breath, it was downright rotten. If all else fails, look into possible causes in her diet, start eliminating and re0introducing and see what happens.
Good Luck to you on your search :)

I will give you two links. The gingivitus thing is a concern and a dentist should be consulted. Also does she floss? May sound silly but she shoudl be doing that frequently (every/every other day). Aside from that read the following article. It should clear up a lot of questions about the causes of bad breathe. The link after that is the product could be used to clear up the issue. I know for a fact this works...I've seen it on multiple people. Good luck.

I addressed this same issue w/ our family dentist and he suggested a 3rd brushing (while at school) and using rinses/mouthwashes that are alchol free, as the alcohol can dry out the mouth...

You should go see a different dentist. Who knows what may be wrong with her mouth. The same thing happened with me and i saw a different dentist other than my normal one.

Sinuses! Have her checked out thoroughly by your pediatrician or GP. In our family, sinus problems are hereditary, and sometimes the congestion is mild or chronic enough that you don't even complain or notice but it CAN show up in bad breath. My son had this problem. Along with what the other posters have answered about gastrointestinal problems and gingivitis, investigate the sinuses issue. I think you should just take her for a thorough checkup overall.

She might have gingivitis, a build up of plaque under her gums. Ask her dentist to check it. You can have a look yourself and check for inflammed or red gums, gums that bleed when they're brushed. Also try asking her dentist to clean her teeth for her and ask for some suggestions.

Does she brush her tongue or use some sort of germ killing mouthwash? Lots of bacteria is on the tongue and causes bad odor.
