Many cheeses are meant to be aged. It shouldn't make you sick, but make sure you cut off any mold on the outside. I've eaten some pretty old cheese and have been completely fine. If it tastes funny to you, though, I wouldn't eat it...why eat cheese if you don't enjoy the taste?

I've developed a sensitivity to dairy products, so if you have a sensitive system, you might want to be careful. I don't think it will send you to the hospital, but might give you a bit of a tummy ache and some gas!

If it has mold on it or smells funny, it probably could. Check the expiration date and if it is more than a week or two old, chuck it and buy new cheese. No point in getting sick.

You'd be surprised at how old cheese is once you buy it form the grocery store. As long as you don't eat any surface mold, I'm sure you'll be fine.
