I'm not anorexic or anything, I am 6'2" and 175 pounds and I usually have a good healthy appetite and eat a well-balanced diet, but I have had a touch of this virus that's doing the rounds in London that gives you the squits, so by 5.30pm when I plan to eat again, I will have gone 50 hours without anything other than plain water and unsweetened Mint tea. I feel fine, slightly hungry but not ravenous or lightheaded... What were your experiences?

I went 3 days (72 hours) on a liquid fast. Water and some chicken broth. When I came off the fast, I ate light for the next couple of meals. The second day was a little more difficult as I did feel hungry, but after that, I was like you. It was a slight hunger, but I knew I could do without.

If I can be of further assistance, let me know.

The longest I have gone was 8 full days. But it was not sickness or crash dieting/anorxeria, I did it for a cleaning/detoxification. After wards I felt lighter than air, weighed 5 pounds less(not fat loss but bowel matter) and my waist was 2 inches smaller. All of my body/mind felt like it had more power. I repeat this once every 2 months for years with no complaints.

A 72 hour fast (3 days) once in a while is supposed to be good for you and as long as you are not underweight or diabetic and do drink lots of water will certainly not harm you.
My son does it every month or 2 and many religions suggest it is a way to improve spirituality and cleanse the body of toxins.

from midnight to the time I had to have an operation once. about 8 hours, but the nerves took the hunger away, daft thing was the nurses took my flowers away in case i drank the water or ate the flowers......they reckoned it had been known for people to be desperate enough to do it. Maybe I just looked greedy LOL

Well, one week it seemed that everything was getting ontop of me; My girl ;-), my classes and my Drama project so I couldn't seem to bring myself to eat anything. After I managed to sort things out I started eating but since I went from eating normal, to eating nothing to eating a fair amount to 'make up'; I made myself terribly sick and had to go another two days only drinking fluids.

a human being can go 30 days and be perfectly healthy with out consuming food- only 3 days with out water, though. as long as you keep your self properly hydrated you are fine for thirty days at least

Keep a reusable water bottle with your desk to sip often. Keeping yourself hydrated can satiate hunger and also cravings, reduce bloating, and preserve you more alert.
