I have a theory that atheists wouldn't change how they live for the most part, but Christians, if convinced that God didn't exist, would have to change their life. But, I'm curious how they might? Would they find it meaningless, or would they find new meaning?

If God did not exist, we would not be here, so there would be no one, nothing, and no answers to Yahoo!!!!

Let's start with "there is no way of proving god DOES or DOESN'T exist". I think you should live life according to what your conscience allows. Think how sad it would be if you actually lived a life which was dictated by what your religion allowed, only to find there was no afterlife. No heaven or hell. What a waste of what could be an incredible journey! Im not saying we should all go out and wreak havoc on the world, just live a good, honest, descent life and be happy. If your a good person and for arguments sake god does exist then surely you will go to heaven. If you spend your life worrying you'll be sent to hell for having a smoke, that's a pretty intense way to live. Life is for living and enjoying new experiences, making mistakes and learning from them ultimatly (hopefully!) making you a better person. just don't go out killing anyone!!

I hope I don't offend anyone, but it seems like some of the very religious Christians already feel like they have a free pass to heaven and they really don't live a very clean life. I think they assume that since Jesus died for their sins, that they can just have the pretense of being born again and that will take care of everything. Look at Jim Baker, Jimmy Swagert, Foley!!, the molesting priests, even the BTK was the president of his church and a born again Christian. The guy that massacred his girlfriends family recently was home schooled in a born again community and his girlfriend had Jesus written on ever thing, yet was having sex at 13. I don't want to make any generalizations and these are just some examples and there are MANY good born again Christians. But it sure seems like if you really delve into their personal lives the really conservative people SOMETIMES have a lot of skeletons in their closets. Some live as if God doesn't exist, because they feel like they're already saved. It's very hypocritical.

If God didn't exist, I would no longer have to answer to anyone for what I did at the end of time. That could bode very badly for those arround me.

I am not a good person. The first thought that comes to my mind is not goodness and light. I could become the worst of the liars and cheaters out there.

No I wouldn't. Hopefully, what I do in this life also improves life for others. When I do things for others, not only does it make a difference in their lives, I am rewarded with a sense of satisfaction myself. Hopefully what we do as a society will also make a difference in our children's lives and their children's lives.

Today's emergencies exist in Africa. People are starving and dying of AIDS. The first genocide of the millennium is happening today in Darfur, Sudan. What can we do to help?

Of course. If He wasnt there, why try to live my life as pleasing to Him? Would be silly. Of course athiests wouldnt change if God isnt there. They already live as if He is not. Logically, nothing would change if He actually wasnt.

To be fair: If you realized God was real, would you as an athiest change your life at all?

So, without God, would reasoning and morality and love exist? If so, where did they come from? They do not seem to exist elsewhere in creation. You've asked a pretty open ended question.

Peace,

It is not a hypothetical question; God does not exist.

Nope. I'd still be trying to be a decent person and become enlightened, no matter how jacked up the world and most of it's inhabitants are are.

Meaning would I kill, steal, commit adultery, engage in endless orgies, do every drug under the sun and be completely corrupt. Um...no. You assume that everyone who believes in God is a fundamentalist. I am not and have a very lively life.

I probably do what ever that my fancy & law of the land may not exist to curb me coz they come from bible or other religion anywhere.

Truly speaking if God doesn't exist, you & I won't exist too.
