It could be the Açaí Palm if your spelling is not correct and if so the vernacular name is also sometimes spelled Assai Palm in English.

acai berries! I heard these are on sale now in Tesco by the way
APRIL 22, 2006 - FIRST it was beetroot, then pomegranate, now a Brazilian berry believed to be the healthiest fruit of all has become the latest must-have nutritional ingredient.
Acai, a purple wonder-berry which has twice the cancer-beating antioxidants of blueberries, is already a fashionable food in the United States, where scientists recently found it destroyed four-fifths of cancer cells.
It has already built up a band of celebrity fans, including Oprah Winfrey, the Formula 1 racing driver Rubens Barrichello, tennis star Andre Agassi, the singer Sting and former model Gisele Bundchen.

acai - (with a tail on the 'c') is pronounced ahh-sigh-ee
It's an energy proving nutritious berry from Brazil.
I first got introduced to it by a surfer in California, they're all drinking acai juice drinks, introduced to them from Brazilian surfers. Not only does it give you the energy to keep surfing all day, it packed with antioxidants, more than pomegranates or blueberries. The ORAC value (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) of acai is higher than any other edible berry in the world. It also contains high levels of Omega 6 and 9 fatty acids, valuable dietary fibers, amino acids, and minerals such as iron, magnesium, potassium, and calcium.
It's real tasty too - a cross between blueberry and chocolate. Best purchased as frozen pulp, put it in smoothies, or on your cereal.
