There was a hamburger helper flavor called 'Western' I think, about 1972 or 73. It was cornbread topping hamburger ;)/veggie mix with some kind of tomato sauce. It doesn't seem to be available anymore and I'm trying to duplicate it. Any suggestions?

Corn Bread Hamburger Pie
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
1 medium green pepper, chopped
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed tomato soup, undiluted
1/4 cup salsa
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon steak sauce, optional
1 package (8-1/2 ounces) corn bread/muffin mix
Minced fresh parsley, optional
In a 10-in. ovenproof skillet, cook the beef, onion and green pepper over medium heat until meat is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the soup, salsa, ketchup and steak sauce if desired. Here is how I would duplicate it based on what you said.

Brown some ground beef/drain, add a small can of tomato paste and frozen mixed veggies warm all this upand then place in a casserole dish and top with a jiffy corn bread mix or another one you prefer. Bake until corn bread is done. I was born in 74 and not familar with this flavor. I am sorry some people dont' take this site for what it is a place to get opinions and answers honestly. Hope this helps. Spice it up to your tastes.
Email me if you need any other suggestions.

Just brown some hamburger meat with whatever veggies and sauce you want in it. Put that mix in a casserole dish. Make some cornbread mix. Put the cornbread mix(uncooked) on top of the meat and veggie mixture and bake till cornbread is ready.

You could try ground beef with taco mix , some corn and peppers topped with corn bread. Yum.

You seriously are making me want to vomit. Please don't describe hamburger helper anymore.

I lived on that crap in college for 4 years and the thought of it is just utterly repulsive to me. Blach!
