I told you all before about my pet vietnamese pot bellied pig named Gordon, who was badly burned in an accident with a barbeque (you guys helped me out that time with my Yahoo Question).
Gordon is intelligent. My wife and I raised him as an orphan, after his parents were eaten at a motorcycle convention.
We have taught him to communicate with us. He can express over 1000 words and phrases by scratching his trotters on the ground. Many of the words are in pig so we dont understand them. We have conversations. He talks a lot about nuts.
Gordon lives in a caravan out the back. He can switch on the TV and likes to watch soap operas and religious TV, especially Rev Falwell. He is the spiritual type, like me.
Are human beings alone conscious, or are other creatures also conscious?
Do you think that Gordon has a soul?

If the Creator lets G.W.B. have a soul ( not at all certain) Gordon must have two.

all animals have souls i know that much because even as a spiritualist i feel that i was also a animal in a past life(wolf). so yeah animals have souls indeed and people some times have animal guides which are normaly our friends and guardians as well. like me i have a wolf and a eagle as animal guides.
so to answer your question about Gordon sure he has a soul and maybe even a mind that works similier to your own
