your cat has probably been attacked by another cat, cats can cause some pretty nasty injuries with their sharp claws, but sometimes the injuries are a lot worse than they really are. Hopefully your cat should be alright, but I would wait until you manage to get him to the vets, it would be best to get him there asap, if your vets does an emergency clinic

Poor kitty. I really think you need to call your vet NOW and tell them that your cat is having difficulty breathing. That is an emergency situation and it's not worth waiting. If you have to see another vet, by all means do it. Your kitty needs medical attention now. He's either gotten into a fight with another cat or met up with a racoon (they can be really nasty). He could have even been stung by a wasp or hornet. I hope your outdoor cat is immunized because there are so many diseases he could catch from other stray cats. I wish you and your kitty the best. Again, call your vet and stress to them that this cat needs emergency first aid, if nothing else. If the doctor cannot see him until later, that's fine, but the veterinary technicians can certainly clean him up and make him more comfortable, especially if he has labored breathing. Insist on bringing him in NOW.

Even though we live in a small town, my cat has been in a few cat fights and has been injured bad enough to see the vet twice. He will disappear for a while and will not eat for a day or two after the fights. The vet prescribes antibiotics because cats get abscesses very easily from cat fights. But eventually the cat recovers and after a few months he forgets and goes and does it again. I hope your kitty is okay. They are amazingly resilient little critters.

oh the poor thing, back in july my cat was also attacked by a whippet and she to went missing over night .thankfully she came back i eventually took her to the vet as she was walking and in a lot of pain and breathing quite fast.i thought she was ripped open she had two broken ribs and two puncture wounds where the dog gripped her and them type dogs are trained to chase small animals (racing rabbits)on a track so he could have some type of internal injury.if he is breathing weird could be his chest or ribs i hope he will be ok.

I hope your cat has been seen and put back together a bit by now.
My cat came in one evening and developed a huge abscess type lump on her back. She stopped eating and looked as if she was going to die. I gave her one dose of Ledum 30 and within 30 mins she was up and eating again. For your cat (if it was mine) I would give him some Arnica for the trauma and swelling and then possibly some Ledum afterwards.
Hope he's better soon. They are pretty amazing creatures.
Good luck.

Very sorry to hear about your cat. May be that the stress from the injuries are causing these issues. The vet will be able to answer your questions. Good luck

Poor thing.....!
It sounds to me like he's either had a nasty fight with another bigger cat OR he could've been attacked by squirrels. I know it sounds mad but they are savage little things! My mum's cat got attacked by squirrels earlier this year and he also had to see the vet. He soon recovered and is absolutely fine now.
I'd say he'll be fine with lots of TLC. Try not to worry too much x

Sounds like he was in a right violent tussle! I hope everything goes well at the vet and he's ok.
If he's not an indoor cat, maybe you'll consider making him one now.

Given his labored breathing, I'd give the vet a call again and let him/her know that the cat is having immediate problems. Be specific about the things that concern you, and make it clear that you think the cat needs to be seen immediately.
