I believe in God, but I believe that concepts sucks. It's unfair and unethical. It's like human discrimination. Hopefully I won't burn in hell for saying that. :(

When God made man He made him perfect. The Bible shows that it was Adam to blame for mankind's plunge into sin [ Rom 5:12.] because he was still perfect after Eve had sinned. As the creator and ruler of the universe God has the right to determine what is right and wrong for all. He gave the first human pair the perfect start. Perfect life in a perfect world. Genesis shows that by their actions Adam and Eve showed that they rejected God's rulership and sided with the devil before they had children. From that point on we inherit sin and as a result death because of them. One thing we have to remember is that a perfect person has a perfect disposition and sense of law, so in order for Adam and Eve to sin they had to make a deliberate stand against God. There is however, a hope. We can show by the way we live our life how we would have responded were we given the same test. John 3:16 shows that God has paid an enormous price for us and perfection is possible. John 17:3 also shows that we have a hope that matches the life of the original couple. The question now is.... what will you do?

Adam and Eve. They were the first humans, created perfect, they came straight from God, not from another man and woman. So if they were unable to remain perfect how do you expect other humans to. I believe that as a child everyone is perfect, even though they sin, because they are to young to understand the concept of sin and how much Jesus really sacrificed for us. Once they are old enough to understand that, then it becomes a choice and they can choose whether to accept it of not. I personally don't believe in original sin because that would mean that if a 6 month old died then s/he would go to Hell. When Adam and Eve ate the fruit they hid because they were naked. Now if the children they had before they ate the fruit were still in the garden then some of them probably heard this and started to realize they were naked as well. So its kind of like a monkey see monkey do. we teach our kids that running around naked is wrong because that's what we were taught. we also sin be lying which kids realize and they start to lie too. They usually say things like 'just kidding' or 'I fooled you' but its a lie nonetheless.

Do you believe humans are naturally good? Or do you believe humans are, at their basic nature, amoral or entirely self-interested?
The concept of original sin is based more on the second question and philosophy behind it. It also provides a foundation for us to have government...government being a voluntary association in its beginning to help defend me and my property against other humans. If all humans were basically good, then "anarchy" or libertarianism would be more successful.
Original sin is not cruel or unethical...Adam and Eve and the original sin is merely a story construct to explain a real philosophy about the human condition.

Adam and Eve were given one simple commandment and didn't follow it! How "cruel" is it to realize that if they'd obeyed we wouldn't be in this mess? It was right to damn us all once sin came into the picture simply because we are lesser creatures than even the angels He created, therefore we didn't have the capacity to stave off sin or have reparation for it ourselves without sacrifice.

This is what God said in the bible about this, hope it helps:
"Yet you ask, 'Why does the son not share the guilt of his father?' Since the son has done what is just and right and has been careful to keep all my decrees, he will surely live. The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him."

It makes sense to me because Adam was to be representative for ALL man. We're not damned to hell, but we are born into a law of sin and death. That's why we need a savior It's a loving act because he provided a way of escape from that law, which is Christ Jesus, who provided the law of Spirit of life. Adam didn't HAVE to sin. It was a choice because he was made a free moral agent. And notice that I said Adam and not Eve, because the charge was given to Adam, not Eve. You're only damned to hell for your unbelief.

Yeah it is hey, i totally agree with u babe. I am a Christian and asked that q before... However I found some peace of mind in the fact that God saved entire families as a reward to one member being totally devoted to Him... I think this is one of the Q we are going to have to ask God when we are sitting at His feet in heaven one day.. As no human mind can grasp things like that and thus can't explain it

The idea of original sin, is that in the garden adam and eve were to obey God. He gave them one guideline. Before they failed to obey, they were perfect, that is to say...blameless. But once they ate the fruit, then they lied about it. and felt shame. The human tendency is to sin. Think of children now. That is why he sent Jesus, knowing we would fall from grace. And giving us a way out.

Are you free from sin? If you or anyone ethat you know is innocent, please post that information. WE are born with a sin nature. Instinctively we are selfish, greedy, lying creatures. Why is this? Why are we not sharing, generous honest little creatures as children? Were we taught not to share our rattles?
WE are sinners but God has provided a savior for us. Believe in him and go and sin no more.
