We didn't know the young woman that passed away but we do know many people who did. She was 17 yrs. old, a senior in high school, and a member of students against drunk driving...which by the way... she died at the hands of a drunk driver! My family would like to send a card to them just to let them know we care. My question is...What can I write in it? We don't know the family. We are just sympathetic members of the community. Please help me??

Sorry to know what happenned. =0<

You could send a card and a letter which says that you are sorry to learn about her death. Just let them know that you did not know her closely though you heard a lot of wonderful things about her. Also that you do understand the grief that the family may be going through. And at this time of grief you would be praying for them.

Really just write what your heart says.

I never know what to do at times like this too....but words like prayer seem to work to soothe the pain!

Speak praises for the young woman and her courage to stand up to the evils of drinking and driving that take so many young lives. Let her parents know that she did not die in vain, and that she rests in the arms of the Lord for all eternity.

I think you just said it:
Here is a card just to let you know we care. We don't know your family, but we are members of your community.

"Our thoughts and our prayers are with you at this time of need." or "For one brief moment a star touched all of our lives and we are truly thankful for the moment."

It's not the words hun, but the feeling. You would not believe how a simple card or jesture helps during a time as this.

May you find some comfort in the thoughts and prayers of friends, family, and the community. Our deepest condolences.

Just send a sympathy card and it should convey your feelings nicely . and if you really wanted to do something how about plant a tree in her honor. That way everytime someone looks at that tree they will remember her.

you could always just write that she is in a better place and if she was in the hospital suffering you could put that she hurts no longer.
I think that it is sweet that you want to do this even if you just write " the prayers and thought of our family are with youand yours at this time" is helpful

Buy a nice sympathy card. You don't need to write anything, just sign the card.

I'd ask the school she went to, I'm sure they will have a place to send condolences. Probably have something set up at the school.
