i like to leave her out during the day, but she gets out under the fence. also, i am not sure if coyotes will come in my yard while i am gone, so she needs the protection.

Try not to leave your dog outside unless he is supervised. There are many danger lurking around. Moreover, your dog may escape and never to be found. Use a puppy gate/children's gate to block an area so that he may play and its best if its in the house. You can also use playpen and it is foldable and mobile. The best place is usually the kitchen floor as it is easier to clean than carpet. I attach some links for your reference of a good playpen and puppy gate.

Have a look at what is called a "cocker pen" it is like a small X pen but with a raised floor so that their mess drops through and a wire roof so that they can not climb out.
If your local pet outlet does not carry them, they should be able to order one.
They work great for small dogs.
Be sure the dog has adequate shade and water when using one.

Maybe I can help, My brother just passed away and left me a hawk muse. it is chain link with a door on one side but it's pretty big, like about 8' x 12' with a complete roof, chain link as well. Your little dog wont get out and the coyotes wont get in. We had o'tees as well as bob cats and javalina so it's sturdy but maybe too big for what your looking for but... you can e-mail if you want. hope this helps.

Do not leave your dog outside... dachshunds are hardwired to burrow after fox... she may dig her way under the run. try crating her inside the house for her protection against predators.

leaving your dog outside is a bad idea and poor owner thinking. work with your dog to prepare him for extended periods of being left home alone. with the proper exercise, attention and discipline you won't have to worry about your dog and his behavior. Get YOUR act together before you expect your dog to get its act together.
