Age, as I understand highboy is for trucks before 1980.

Only F-250s 67-77 1/2 4wds were Highboys (Half tons were not Highboys and Ford dident build a F350 4X4 before 79) All crewcabs 2 and 4wd up to 77 1/2 had the narrow frames like the Highboys, the 4wds were Highboys. Highboy was a nick-name given to the F250 4wds that came before 771/2 because the were taller than the F250 4wds built after 77 1/2. Ford had nothing to do with the name. It has been my understanding that Ford never made a "hi-boy", rather they made trucks with certain attributes that among other things made them higher. As it was stated above, it was a nickname that kindof stuck. I think the misinformation comes from everyone wanting thier older Ford to be a hi-boy and pass them off as such

Bed sides are so high that makes the cubic feet of the box sound better than Chevy Dodge Nissan Toyota. More useable steel beds Put that 4x8 foot paneling in there if you can and close the tailgate
