For a Buick 8 by Steven King was the last one I read like that.
The Last Man on the Moon by Eugene Cernan was pretty enthralling.

"Helter Skelter." About Charles Manson, his followers and the murders they committed in Hollywood. Couldn't put it down. Made myself stay awake all night till I finished the book.
