He could have an infected tooth. My parents' dog had really bad teeth. He was a stray when we found him, and it looked as if he'd eaten nothing but trash for the first year and a half of his life. The vet said his teeth were too far gone to do anything about, but advised us to keep them brushed. He said Jake WOULD need to have teeth pulled as he aged. And he did. One tooth got so bad it gave him a sinus infection. And his breath WREAKED....pretty much all the time, but it got worse when one of his teeth had to go.
I'd say take him to the vet.
Good luck!

He may have gingivitis. This is a gum disease and causes teeth to loosen & fall out, also very painful and causes bad breath also. Also for bad breath give your dog Amplex Chlorophyl tablets.
Or Charcoal as these absorb smelly breath and cleanse the colon.
Hope this helps.

I would advise you to take him,
to visit the vet a soon as you can
It sounds to me as though, he might have some gum disease and / or tooth decay . And his mouth may be very tender .
Poor little chap :(
I sure the vet, will make him better and sweeter smelling ,
very soon
I have Shi-Tzu's and my oldest one had a tooth abscess and the first we knew about it was her breath smelt awful
She has had a course of anti biotic and is now fine
so fingers crossed, this will work for your little dog !!

He needs to go the the vet and have his teeth cleaned and most likely the loose one pulled.
Make an appointment and have his teeth cleaned it will help his breath so much you will not believe it.

Take him to the vet for a teeth cleaning. It is actually recommended that you take your dog or cat in for two cleanings in their life span. I have it done.
