Hi

Well.. you dont cure it .. you treat it.

Usually with an oral med 2 times daily

There are certain breeds of dogs that tend to get this more than others and it can often be misdiagnosed so double check with the vet maybe get a 2nd opinion as well

BUT if your dog has it it Must be treated to remain healthy.

With treatment all is good and your dog should do well .
Assuming that is the only thing wrong...

Good Luck

Hypothyroidism and Chushings is NOT the same. Simple hypothyroidism is easily treated with a very inexpensive medication. Sometimes a special diet is required to help take off weight, since obesity is a symptom of hypothyroidism. Blood work is needed every now and then to make sure the thyroid level are within normal limits and the right amout of medication is being given.

You need to check with your vet. My dog has hypothyroidism, too, and she has to take pills twice a day. You'll be amazed at the difference. She has much more energy. Also, her fur had fallen out--now she's got thick, soft fur after just a few months.

You will have to give your pet a pill every day to suppliment the hormone that the thyroid would produce. They are very small and not expensive and they are easy to give.
A little dab of peanut butter on the pill and down they go.
