A kitten reaches sexual maturity at about 6 months old, by this age it is capable of reproducing, so I guess this would make it a young cat, however the kitten will still be growing until around 12 months.

Unforunately they grow pretty fast. They take most of their size when they are about 6 months but they grow a bit more for the next 6. Still, once you get a kitten, you get pretty attatched to them and they will always be your babies. My cats are 10 and I can never think of them as "adults."

Never. As long as there is someone to make a fuss of them there will always be a bit of the kitten about them. Your vet would probably say 6 months.

At about 10 months they are considered adult and no longer in need of kitten food but they continue to mature and are fully mature at about 2 years of age.

I once read that a cat was "adolescent" from about 10 to about 18 months of age... I guess that means s/he's an adult past 18 months of age.

at a year, between 12 and 24 months they can be considered as junior and you can give them adult food with a small bit of kitten food but its not necessary
