It sounds like an ear infection, probably yeast,,Quite common, especially in dogs with heavy floppy ears,,,ie Cocker Spaniel. Your vet will probably give you drops. I use Canaural...I put the drops in their ears & massage them gently, They are probably quite sore at this point, your vet should start you off by cleaning them really well, & showing you how to use them. My dogs have accepted this treatment quite well, they know that I am trying to help them. Kudos for you taking your pet to the vet...

Yes. It is a yeast infection that has settled in the dogs ears.
This is why there is such an odor that comes from the dogs ears.
I have a cocker spaniel and this happens a lot. Especially after giving him a bath.
The ears are long and heavy. They do not allow much air to penetrate causing them to stay moist. I took him to the vet and the vet told me it is a yeast infection. My dog would dig and dig at his ears. They gave me this cleanser to put in his ears and wipe out with a Q-tip. it works great. Just make sure if you give them a bath clean their ears. The cleanser is not expensive at all.
It actually smells almost like windex (weird I know) but it works wonders.

Your dog has ear mites with a secondary ear infection from the mites, a dog with ear mites will scratch around their ears and/or shake their heads. The amount of scratching and shaking depends on the severity of the mite infestation. With more advanced infestation, the ear canals will bleed and either fresh or dried blood will appear inside the canal. Dried blood resembles coffee grounds. If you peer into your pet's ears and notice a build-up of a material that looks like 'coffee grounds,' then your pet probably has ear mites, although a bacterial and/or yeast infection is also a possibility.
Please read the following article on ear mite,
http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?cls=2&cat=1589&articleid=734
but you are also saying that there is a small, with the smell you will have to see a veterinarian to get antibiotics to clear the infection

It's probably just a simple ear infection that's a little soar. the vet will most likely give you drops for it. some breeds of dogs with ears that flop down are prone to ear infections and you just need to keep an eye on them.

Its seems to me as if she has an ear infection. I recommend you take her to the vet. If it is an ear infection it can be serious && she will need antibiotics. Get her to a vet asap. && If you cant afford a vet then take her to the humane society or some where like that. The cost will be VERY cheap. Hope this helps hun =).

Sounds like and ear infection.
Sometimes if they get wet inside their ears and it does not dry fast enough they can get an infection.
Your vet can give you drops to put in to clear it up.
Some dogs need to have the hair in their ears plucked or shaved out so they stay dry and do not get infected.

This is a sign of an ear infection. You should really take her to the vet before permanent damage sets in.
