it doesn't make sense, really.
Has the "God" changed and become more compassionate?
but the Bible says that god doesn't change, or did another god take his place?

I am atheist, but I was born as a Christian. As I know, the God in an old part of the Bible (which is Jewish part) is cruel, while God in the new part of the Bible (starts with the birth of Jesus) is written or enplaned as more compassionate. So, you have a point and a good sense of observation.

First of all have you really read any of the bible? or is your information second hand?

1) In noahs days God didn't kill half the earths inhabitants he killed them all exept who was on the ark, Noah, his family, and 2 of every animal species a male and a female.

2) God didn't die for our sins it was his son Jesus who died on the cross for all our sins.

It would not make any sense to you as the questions you are asking are false.

Get your facts right before posting questions.

God did not die for anyones sins. This makes no sense. This is an invention of the early church that was heavily influenced by greek and roman methology. Jesus was a Prophet.

He doesn't change. He can't become more compassionate because He is infinitely compassionate. In fact, every bit of compassion in you and everyone else has been given to you from God, but He doesn't have any less.

God never likes to kill people. He likes to give them chances to believe in Him with faith. God was angry with the people of Noah's day because they had turned so evil and sinful so quickly. Noah was the only righteous man on earth, so God spared Him and his family.

It is no different now. One day, very soon (wether it be today or a million years from now), God will send Jesus to return and gather up the righteous so that the sinful and evil will die. Read Revelation all the way through. Just as all the wicked and sinful people of Noah's day were killed, so will the wicked and sinful of our day be killed.

It may sound merciless of God to kill people, but, in reality, it isn't. Think about it. God created us to fellowship with Him. We had one rule (not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil) and we broke it. He showed mercy to the Israelites. They betrayed Him. He sent Jesus. We killed Him. God has every right to kill everyone who doesn't believe in His Son. Although we didn't physically help in the killing of Jesus Christ the man, every time when we sin, we are openly and willingly defying God and His commandments; and, therefore, we are killing Jesus because He died for the very sins that we do every day. Without our sins, Jesus wouldn't have had to die for us.

Just to let everyone above me know: Jesus was sent by His Father, God. Jesus was God, so it was like God sent Himself. Think of it this way. I don't know who here is a parent, but if you send your child -- not to mention your perfect, holy, sinless, only child -- to die a horrible death, it is just as bad as -- if not worse -- than sending yourself to die (He died so that we could be His children, too.). Jesus didn't just die a horrible death, He left everything He knew to spend thirty-four years on the earth and three days in the grave away from His Father.

In Noah's days people disregarded God and his laws. One he had a son, he seemed more compassionate. His son experienced what is was like to be a human. But now that his son has joined him in heaven we now can cast our cares and worries to Jesus whom knows our struggles. I think he always cared for us but needed an example of care to get our attention and identify with us.

God didnt die for your sins. Jesus did. God sent forth quick judgment in the Old Testement. Noah preached to those people and warned them, but they have never seen rain, only dew, and they allowed Noah was crazy. So God's wrath came upon the people. I think God's wrath stays at bay now cause of His Son Jesus. Jesus brings grace to the people. But that grace will not be extended to you forever. What will you do? Will you continue to deny Jesus Christ and what he did for you on the cross? Your choice.

It was a work in progress. He had to try quite a few things before he got it right. He tried being an egotistical homicidal maniac for awhile, but that didn't get him very far. So he took a super-valium and became all touchy-feely. Then the stuff wore off at the very end and he reverted to his old habits with a vengance.

Yes, the god of the Bible changes greatly throughout the books. That is because the god of the Old Testament was made up in a much earlier time. As the religion evolved the god mellowed a bit. This culminated in the New Testament which was written to appeal to a much wider audience.

First of all it was God's son Jesus Christ who died for "our" sins. As we have inherited sin from our first parents Adam and Eve, who were deceived by the devil. So through Christ we can be cleansed.

God Chose to discipline those inhabitants Because they were'nt obeying him. God is love and compassionate, but if your on the dark side you will see his dark side.
