i eat mcdonalds twice a day... i have 4 doubles, 2 large fries, 2 cokes, and 2 milk shakes everyday... and i eat lots of junk food around it and i'm 6'2 and i only weigh 165 pounds... why cant i gain any weight?? i exercise once a day by going out side and playing football for about an hour and i dont even run.. i just pass the ball.. why cant i gain the weight????

You my friend are the envy of many a person with the opposite problem! Your body type is ectomorphic. You have a high matabolism and you burn fuel like a volcanic lava lake! Problem is... you can drop dead of a heart attack from clogged arteries or have clotting problems resulting in stroke etc... because your diet with Micky D's is going to kill you!
You will gain weight if you manage the food you take in properly. Chances are and I'm only guessing here because it is common that ectomorphs are type A or AB blood. Remember that YOUR blood feeds YOUR body. Not everyone can eat the same because everyone's blood is different. That is why some diets work for some and not for others. I am a type O for instance. I cannot do yoga and expect to lose weight. I HAVE to hit it extremely hard for a good 40 minutes or more of heavy sweating to see any results. I am the opposite of you in fact. You can get away with yoga, pilates, and simple walks (no power walks).
You can assimilate products that I cannot. You can eat pasta to your hearts content! You likely prefer vegetables over meat as well. Meats cause you to feel uncomfortable or give you bowel problems while I can eat red blood dripping meat all day long and my body thrives on it! You have an alkaline stomach and handle things like orange juice without a single problem while I have an acid stomach and orange juice will rip me to shreds. You also handle gluten well so you can eat all the bread and pasta you want! I can't even look at it!
If in fact you are a B...you have the best of both worlds, but have to be careful not to eat things with lectins that are not recognized as intruders in your system such as Chicken. Chicken sneaks in an deposits in B's system because type be assimilates the type A antigen. Therefore resulting in things that creep up suddenly such as MS or leukemia.

You're probably just lucky you still have a fast metabolism. Could it be that you're still a teen?

You really, really, REALLY need to eat REAL food. You know the stuff with vegetables, meats, starches and other things that aren't full of hydrogentated fats and high fructose corn syrup.

If you were gaining weight on that crap, you'd gain nothing but jiggly, artery-clogging fat, not firm, attractive muscles.

Even young people are starting to get old people diseases like type II diabetes (which can make you go blind and cause your legs to be amputated), heart disease and gallstones.

Not exercising isn't helping either.

The reality is while you're lucky your diet hasn't caused you to get fat, your body is still very much starved for the nutrition it sorely needs. In my experience it just doesn't work well when it isn't getting all it needs.

How to gain the weight. Join a gym. Start lifting weights and do it HARD. If you can afford it, do some sessions with a trainer, or get a book on how to body build. There are ways to eat that will help you put on weight but GOOD weight. The kind that won't sap your energy or risk your health; the kind that LOOKS good too.

What's the point of gaining weight if it's all pudge anyhow?

hey man i'm 6ft 4in 175lbs and i have the same exact problem...I've tried gaining weight over and over and the trick to gaining weight for us is slowing down your metabalism, you need to eat a LOOOOOOOOTTTTT of carbs the normal amount is only 1/3rd of what you need to eat a day to gain weight. Yes MacDonalds isnt healthy but it doesnt slow down your metabolism you need to eat meat, and potatoes, and bread that are good meals and not home cooked. Also you should eat protein bars and start getting wieh protein from your local GNC type store.....good luck with gaining some weight!


AND YOU HAVE TO EAT BREAKFAST!!!! i know it sucks that early in the morning but thats what really helps you gain some weight.

Dont skip breakfast, how can you gain weaight if you skip your breakfast. Eat foods that are rich in carbohydrates just like rice. Eating burgers fries etc wont help you in gaining weight.

Your metabolism is fast. It will slow down someday, and you'll wish it hadn't. Try eating healthier, that might help..

Get tested to see if your thyroid is not overactive.
