Ok so I go to see my stylist every 4 months for a trim and anti curl treatment which isn't an intensive process (its just something she puts in waits bout 10 mins bc my hair takes well then combs through washes it out puts a neutralizer waits combs through and washes it out) Its $130 for this and I always like the outcome. The stylist is around my age 24-26 and I tipped her $10 last time (I didn't have any singles). Its less than 10% (like 7 3/4%) but will she understand? I stretch out my appts a month bc Im supposed to go in every three months. and Ive given her tips $13-15 before. I told her I was happy with the result when she finished but will the tip give her the idea that I'm not happy? I keep going back to her, Is it ok to keep tipping her $10?

speaking as a hairstylist myself, i think your tip is fine . I'm grateful when my clients tip me ,but its more rewarding for me to see you continue coming thru the door on a regular basis. Not only that but they give me gifts on my birthday and other occasions, treat me to lunch and dinner so its ok if they dont even tip sometimes(NOT OFTEN). Remember she may even have clients that dont tip at all!!! I'm sure shes grateful for what you give her.

I think Most hairdressers understand that any tip is exceptable. Just by giving "something" regardless of the amount expresses that you liked their service. Coming back for service is a compliment. $10 is fine.

I think $10-15 is good. I don't think stylists make that much though.....they can range from $7-10 an hour i think.....but it's always good to tip.

ummm ok, why on earth tip her at all? i dont see the point and its a waste of money. you go there because you need something done to your hair and shes the hairdresser so thats her job to do your hair. when you give her a tip that actually means you like her service, not the other way around. keep your money or if your rich give it to someone that really needs it.

I don't think it's enough. I try to give mine at least 20%. it's not based on how easy or hard you think the job is. it's just a matter of percentage and 15-20 is good. i'd try to be more generous, especially with someone who i have been seeing for awhile.
remember what goes around comes around.....

$10 is fine. its nice to get a tip, no matter how much. in australia... as a hairdresser, i would only get a tip once or twice a week. in usa, they get tips several times a day. $10 is PLENTY!!
