Currently there is no known cure for heartworm. This is because when heartworms die they must pass through the pulmonary arteries which causes the possibility of arterial blockage and death. So the best course of action to date is prevention. If your cat does have heartworm the best thing to do is to treat the symptoms and to hope that the cat outlives the worm as killing the heartworm can be very dangerous to the feline.

If you look into your cat's house, presuming they have built one, check the cellar. If you find pinkish brown cylinders squirming around in the cellar, your cat may well have worms.

Do not fret though. Cats get on incredibly well with worms and will live happily alongside them as they both provide the other with a service. The cat gains the companionship it so richly craves and the worm has a constant supply of fur, off which it feeds. Simple really.

Cats are prone to Tapeworm and pick this up when they have fleas or catch wildlife like birds or mice. Live segments can be seen near their anus and are white/cream in colour, like rice, sometimes you can see them move.

If in doubt, worm your cat every 3 months and you will never have to worry about whether worms are present or not.

Go to its collection of PC games, usually found adjacent to your cats computer, and look through the titles.

Be careful, once my cat had thought it had lost its copy of worms and turned blue....turns out he had just put it in the wrong game case - stupid cat!

They don't eat very much and are somewhat slim in the hip area. Also you can check their stools, if it moves, they have worms.
