They are both fattening and good for you. Chick peas are very nourishing and sustaining. Olive oil -- particularly extra virgin olive oil -- is good for you and does not have the adverse qualities of so many fatty substances. But watch the things you dip into your hummous! Sticks of celery/pepper/carrot, etc. are best!

make your own hoummus and you can moderate the amount of oil used so it can beocme not quite so fattening but it is still and always good for you.

they're made using lots of olive oil, so they're not exactly low calorie, but chick peas are high fibre, so it sort of balances out
