Part of the way things were then but I would gladly wash my husbands feet if he so asked. I am sure he would do the same for me.

Foot washing was done as a sign of respect for your guest. Feet were not just washed by women, men also washed feet (Jesus washed the feet of his disciples)

They had dusty feet back then - they wore sandals. They did wash their own feet though. Listen - washing someones feet back then was an act of humility - being very humble. When you read about that in the Bible - that is someone being humble and showing their love for that person. Also Jesus washed the disciples feet and He was showing that He was a servant as well as our Savior.

It is a sign of respect and caring. Here, people talk of Bible days. I have washed the feet of someone I cared for because when he came home, his feet were tired and bothered him. Using Rose or Orange water, and massaging the feet, can be so relaxing.

Back then most women didn't have much status as today. Yes men could've washed their own feet. One man chose to wash his disciple's feet. His name is Jesus.
Also when the women washed Jesus feet, it was a sign of respect.

Hi,
It was not just women washing men's feet. Men washed feet too. Jesus Christ was reported to have washed his disciple's feet. It's a symbolic cleansing ritual, not a sexist anything.
Hope that helps.
Cheers.

Let me guess your one of those women thinking when a woman washed a mans feet it shows she is weak and she is not better than him. It was a custom when a guest came over you washed their feet and fed them. Even Jesus washed the disciples feet. Get over your womens lib junk would you. What if a stranger came over and asked if you would wash their feet would you? I can say you would not cause you would not dare lower yourself to that. Do you know we entertain angels unaware? What if that angel was that stranger testing you.

in that era or time women were slaves to man because women had to pay for their protection by men,it was a barbaric world and the protection was needed to women and men took advantage of this because they had too much time spent in the protection so no time to wash there feet and women wanted to do this as a thank full gesture, until 1989, since 1989 women got their rights from their own demands.women are made equal and i for one will give them what they want or need because i love,i will remind women of their rights but they still want to be protected,so each women are different so i will act from it as i go.

It could be that women are more humble than men and are more likely to follow and accept Christ better?? There is something there men can learn from you women.
And as you can read Jesus, God himself humbled himself before his followers and he washed their feet.

It seems like you've only read the one story. Jesus taught lessons about washing one another's feet. His disciples were all men.
