There's nothing wrong with a diabetic eating spicy food or drinking coffee (no sugar). On the days when you crave fresh fruit, you have to remember to eat them in moderation. Fruit contains sugar, and too much can elevate your blood glucose levels. Remember to check your blood sugar regularly, take your prescribed medication, and be watchful for the signs of high or low blood sugar.

As for the shiny lower legs. Have you noticed any swelling? Skin that is stretched often shines. I'm not aware of any direct relation between shiny lower legs and diabetes, but edema (swelling due to fluid collection) often occurs in the lower legs first, and can be a sign of other health problems. Talk with your doctor about it.

The shiny part is likely a complication of diabetes. It is normally considered a sign of decreased circulation.

Hmm... shiny is not a common diabetic symptom... craving these foods is quite normal for everyone though... could you be pregnant?
